Hi, I agree AnJ it is a very serious topic. I go for a full health check up on the week of my birthday every year..That way it just pops up in my diary...and makes it easier to remember to go.

"Your rug, yes. well, with that money you can buy any number of rugs that don't have sentimental value for me. And I am sorry about that crack on the jaw."
"Oh, th-that's fine. That doesn't even, uh..."
"Here's the name and number of a doctor who will look at it for you. You will receive no bill. He's a good man, and thorough."
"That's really thoughtful but I--"
"Please see him, Jeffrey. He's a good man, and thorough..."

"Could you slide your shorts down, Mr. Lebowski, please?"
"Hmm? No. No, man. She hit me right here."
"I understand. Could you slide your shorts down, please?"
Yep my doc sends me for the tests every year - dont know if ill last any longer but when you get to your mid 40's you deffinatly start thinking about it more closely, also being an insurance broker i get exposed to health problems more than most and believe me if you saw the stats youd get checked out lol lol. Recently watched a good friend pass away from something so preventable its ridiculous .The effect that it has had on everyone who knows him and his familiy has been devastating . it calls you to question your own mortality and responsibility , boys dont be mugs, get yourself checked each year, if not for you then your family. I know we're on this site for funtimes and this topic is sobering, but much respect to you for addressing this, you never know you may well have saved a life.
I go to my doctor every thre emonths sinc emy bypass. Each check includes a full blood count and check... For me that is vital out of my sesne of respinsibility first for my own peac eof mind and secondly out of respect for those with whom I interact... Good topic and a salutary reminder for genuine people

Well for a full check you should have heartt/bp/reflexes, anmda blood test which shoudl cobver all areasincluding pips (prostate and also an hiv/aids check.
I'm not a guy but want you as males to be seriously aware of the fact that some of you may never have been tested. That is really really scary as you aren't just putting yourself at risk, but others too.
Its quick and easy and so important in this community.
every year on my birthday a total check bloods the works after having bowel cancer 4 years ago its just a part of my yearly routine and guys if you don't im sorry to say this but your mad
Is it just me or has this thread blurred into two similar topics, Men's health check and sexual health check.
I haven't had a men's health check yet but I have discussed it with my Dr. The recommendation is to have this checkup every two years from the age of 40. I guess it will be present to myself shortly after my 40th.
• weight and body-mass index
• pulse and blood pressure
• skin examination for melanoma
• heart check & cardiovascular risk assessment
• testicular examination
• prostate check
• urine test for diabetes & kidney disease
• ECG, eyesight test & audiology test where indicated
• blood tests including a complete blood count, liver & kidney function tests, blood glucose , cholesterol, thyroid function & PSA (prostate specific antigen)
My last sexual health check was just under a year ago. A full STI screening. As many STI's can have no symptoms for many years I think it's best to get the all clear every year or so.
as a couple we get tested for HIV and STDs every 6 months due to being responsible, we have had odd breakages with condoms etc and feel its only fair to remain safe and tested when playing with others...that being said most people we play with are like minded, family types that are safety conscious. (we have never had a STD in our lives)
As for mens health, i recently went to get check up, after spending a long time chatting, found out mens health and research is fairly poor, and chances of picking up prostate issues before problem is hard.
Blood tests and namely the thing they look for in them can show a false positive, meaning it can be identifying an issue for other things which are not harmful.
If you show in tests that specific item they looking for is in your blood they can go down the biopsy path, this is through rectum and is not only uncomfortable, but has many side effects, some from infection, to impotence and thats just the biopsy.
I have been told change of sir of prostate happens for many reasons, and not all are cancer, yet it has been found that many prostates have be nine cancer tumours in them.
Conclusion, know your body, if something seems not normal or out of place go see doctor, get checked up but be aware it better to ask and be informed than sit in dark and be nervous of exposing self to doctor, as men we are kinda hopeless at seeing doctors, and that is where women have it over us, they are more health conscious.
I too have had many friends suffer major life changing operations down below due to cancers and it seems to be occurring in younger persons each year.
I do wonder with radiation from cell phones that mobile data should be turned off if cell in pocket near your junk? I'm certainly more aware now of the degree of radiation from wireless devices and how World health Org are looking at reclassifying cel phones as possible carcinogen.
Just listened to a forward thinking women on the radio yesterday. She has started an online Sexual Health Clinic in Auckland, but this obviously will be available to all NZ. They can post you sexual health test kits so no need to go visit your doctor and feel embarrassed anymore!
Take a look at the website, its easy, quick and cost effective. No excuses guys! Get check regularly and everyone stays healthy. They have a special test kit for couples too.
