The site works pretty damn well, but one thing that does irk me is the lack of people allowing others to check where they live.

Now, I suppose it may be a privacy thing for some, but when checking out someone, one of the key things to know is are they close to you. With those who neglect to provide this information, that becomes a task that relies on talking to them - something that isn't always easy to do, or sometimes feels a bit intrusive.

So, I'd love it if the site could force people to tell their location. This doesn't not need to be a detailed description - a general region would be fine and dandy!

I agree.... we play locally and it would be helpful to find others in our area rather than have to guess where they are from.

Not a difficult thing to implement either.. just a compulsory field on the form when a member joins KS

As a moderator ill mention it is VERY unlikely for enforced location to be part of the signup process.

Why?

People who come here are from all walks of life. You'd be surprised at the different types of people we have grace the hallowed grounds of kiwiswingers. Some people MUST have complete discretion in order to enjoy the site, and it is not our place to say they cannot have it.

Also a LOT of people come here to find out if this is the kind of thing they are interested in. If it were compulsary to put location you can bet ya bottom dolloar they would walk right back out the door again and that would be sad. Quite a few of the cool people i now know were in that exact position, and it would have sucked if they left because they were not happy disclosing where they were from right away.

All it takes is a mail or to strike up a conversation in the chat room to find out where someone is from. And even then they have the right not to say until they are 100% comfortable to do so.

The safety that the site allows through anonymity is one of its key draw-cards.

I personally hope that NEVER changes.

Everyone on here has different boundaries in terms of what feels 'safe' and what doesn't. I don't mind people knowing what city I'm in,but then again I don't have face shots on my profile nor do I go on cam where people could recognise me. That is my safety net and the lack of location status for others is theirs. We are all different yet we are here for the same reason-to experiment and explore icon_smile.gif

If you're too uncomfortable to chat to them or send a message saying hi, then you're technically just stalking their profile anyways. Who's gonna meet someone that won't say 'hi' and start a conversation?

i agree totally-shouldn't matter if location is up or not!!

a bit of a mix of for and against the idea of having members having to reveal their location.

Interesting thing I noticed was that all of us who have commented so far, have our location listed!! Can't be too big of a deal, obviously icon_lol.gif
