Can someone please help me ? I have a few questions regarding hosting parties

How can I edit parties that I am hosting? How can I see who I have invited?

Those were the easier question now the big one which I think is really affecting the New Zealand swinger scene ...
Why can't people profit from an event???? it seems stupid to me - in Australia I hosted parties sometime I made a profit, sometime I made a lost other times I raised money for charity. For my parties I spent many hours over several weeks inviting people and managing the invite list so that everyone had a good time, I prepared venues for the event like theming and making sure beds were ready for play. I also spent many many hours the next day cleaning up the mess from the night before. During the actual party I made sure everyone was having a good time. I never put on parties to make money for my self but rather because I believe in this lifestyle. However there is a lot of work goes into hosting a good party and that is just increased if the party can not make a profit. By this I mean if say the venue hire is $350 for the night I need to divid how much that is for each person coming ... Sounds simple but not really this is swinging we are talking about - ten couples could come making $35 for the event, 4 couples could come making it $87.50 for the event. I will not know how many people are coming to the event until it happens therefore wat price do you charge people....
To me this rule stops people putting on parties , if someone goes to the trouble of organizing a good party then why shouldn't they profit from it. If it was a shit party then the next party they host people will remember and not go.
By allowing people to profit from events we are encouraging more events which can only be good for the scene.

Your best bet about parties would be to submit a ticket to admin.
Im not overly familiar with the parties function as most of the meets are organized through the forums in the "Lets meet up Forum"

I think you mis-understand what "making a profit" actually means.
Noone is saying you cant have some surplus left over and its your choice if you want to take some for your time. (Just be aware by doing so some people could see that as taking advantage and you may have to answer some of THEIR questions).

What we mean by profit making is an actual BUSINESS of hosting events that would supply you an income.
-Just organizing an event you enjoy with say a $10 cover charge and having some left over is NOT a profit making business.
-Having a regular event you administer for the sole purpose of making money IS a profit making business.

If you see the event as an investment, not just a fun good night out, we don't want it here.
If it is you having a lot of fun and ya need to charge a fee to cover hall costs or something then that is fine.

At the end of the day the site here is for the sole purpose of like minded individuals in the lifestyle to hopefully meet some cool people to have fun with.

It is not a Yellow Pages of "for profit" events.

Personally don't agree that profit making makes better events.
The Auckland event has NEVER been for profit and its one of the highlights of my year and it has NOTHING to do with money.
It has everything to do with the organization and also the atmosphere provided and the people that attend.

Dwelling on the money side of things only causes drama and grief, the sole reason we dont encourage those kind of events here.

Okay thanks for clearing it up because that is not how I read the conditions at all, to me they read as no profit was to be taken for the event. Therefore all costs needed to be divided by the number of people coming which means money does become a big issue as per my example in the original post.
But I disagree with the aspect of profit, as my name suggests I am from Australia and over there the swinger sites we used allowed clubs to host for profit events - it helped to give the scene a less under ground aspect. It gives people incentives to actually put on events and promote this lifestyle choice. There is no way I would put on events just for profit.... It I wanted just a profit I would put in an that appealed to a wider audience, I put on events to have a good time, to met new couples and to promote a lifestyle that I love and believe in. All the for profit events in Australia that I went to had the same beliefs. Sometime you make a profit and other times you don't but what you aim to achieve at every party is for people in this lifestyle to have a fun night and come away with a positive impression of swinging.

I just wanted to weigh in and point out that every auckland meet arranged by myself has never taken one cent of profit. Most meets are 100% free, with exception to the end of year meet coming up soon which has a $5 entry fee of which all funds raised are going towards the event.
Yes the meets do take a lot of work but ido not expect nor want anything less than to have fun myself and to see others have fun in a safe environment. granted meets are not sex parties but the same principles apply to any event in my opinion.

I think you need to get to a nz event to see how it is run.

3 things

1) this is NOT australia and the people here think VERY differently. Trying to apply the same model here will fail completely as just about every business has found. If you dont get to know the lay of the land and how to best interact within it you wont get very far.

2) you are WAY over complicating things. There is no need to get so bound up in the the little detail of this "profit" thing.

3) the population in NZ is way WAY smaller than in Oz so we do not have the same potential for numbers. Hell there are close to the same number of people in sydney as in ALL of NZ.

Look its this simple. If you want to put on an event that is for fun and want to run a cover charge do it! getting hung up on the funds detracts from the actual event.
The profit side of things is just so we dont have money hungry people running events for the sole purpose of financial gain. Thats not what this site is about.

Ultimately relax, have fun and all will be sweet. Thats the kiwi way icon_smile.gif
