Be warned people. I selected SEND ME NOTHING with the email preferences, and I still got sent an email, about an event. Even tho it was to my personal email account, I still check this through work internet connection and it got blocked by the mail server.

My entire IT team probably know about this now.

Webmasters, you should really sort your site out.

Im a little puzzled by this.

I have never gotten an email from the site in my over 3 years of being here with my emails set to off (other than the newsletter).

Are you sure you didn't get an email from someone from the site?

Ill pass this on to admin for you but this is the first time ive heard of something like this happening. Hopefully a reasonable explanation for it.

Hi there.

I'm very sure it was an email from the site, the first one was about an event.

I went on to the site to check that I had set my preference to 'SEND ME NOTHING'.

I also changed my email address to a webmail address.

Yesterday I got ANOTHER random Admin newsletter type email from the site, to my original email address, even tho I changed my email address.

I've now come back on to the site to see if I can delete my account altogether, because it just seems too risky. I am a web developer, I understand IT and how these things work, so it's not just me not understanding things.

A shame, but if things like that aren't reliable, can't trust my privacy on the site.

A shame we can't all be open about our lives, but that's the way it is, we like to keep these things to ourselves, and I can't risk my professional reputation with things like this.

Thanks for your reply tho, and definately point it out to the admin, something is not right.

Cheers

Oh, and regarding asking if it was an email from someone else on the site, this shouldn't be able to happen either if you've set your preferences to not receiving emails on the site. That's the last kind of email you want if you don't want it!

cheers and have fun

Okay genuinely trying to be helpful here .. every web dev knows you shouldn't report a bug without as much info as you can ..

so I just checked my account preferences, and took screenshot which I can't easily add to this post but both Send ME NOTHING and NO to newsletters are selected, yet I've had a newsletter and another email.

All needs testing pronto - bad news for new members.
